IGNOU BEd Admission 2026-27: The last for submission of online BEd application form for January 2026 session has been extended till 27 February 2026. The Indira Gandhi National Open University will be admitting students for BEd Programme, batch commencing from January 2026 through Entrance Test to be held all over the country. Date of Entrance Test will be communicated later on.

The application process for the BEd admission is entirely online and automated; where you have to apply for the IGNOU BEd entrance test by entering your credentials, uploading documents and paying an application fee of ₹1000. Indira Gandhi National Open University conducts an entrance test for the Bachelor of Education program, which acts as a deciding ground for admission. IGNOU BEd Admission 2026-27

The application form for IGNOU BEd Admission 2026 will be set open on 29 January 2026 at IGNOU’s official portal, www.ignou.ac.in. Admission to IGNOU’s BEd is offered on the basis of the result of the entrance test IGNOU conducts once a year. BEd in IGNOU is a 2-year cumulative education studies program designed and curated for students who wish to make a career in the education sector.

Apart from the common entrance test, to be eligible for the IGNOU BEd Admission 2026,  you should have completed your basic undergraduate degree or Bachelor’s program from a UGC or AICTE-recognised university or hold a diploma in Elementary education, have a minimum age of 21 years (no upper limit), mark sheet showcasing a minimum 50% score in Bachelor’s degree. The last date to apply for the IGNOU BEd Entrance is 27 February 2026. You will receive your admit card 1 week prior to the entrance exam date at your mail ID or at the portal itself. IGNOU BEd Admission Eligibility Criteria

The Bachelor of Education (BEd) program offered by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is distinct in that it requires an entrance examination, unlike other programs available at the institution. This program can be completed in a span of two years, with a maximum allowable duration of five years.

• At least 50% marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree and /or in the Master’s Degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/ Commerce/ Humanities. Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualifications equivalent thereto.

The following categories are eligible to be students of B.Ed. (ODL):

1. Trained in-service teachers in elementary education.
2. Candidates who have completed a NCTE recognized teacher education programme through face-to face mode.

• The reservation and relaxation of 5% marks in minimum eligibility will be provided to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/PWD candidates as per the rules of the Central government. EWS reservation as per the rules of Central Government.
• The reservation to Kashmiri Migrants and War widow candidates will be provided as per University Rules.

Admissions for the IGNOU BEd program for the academic year 2026-27 will be announced in January and July. Apart from these basic requirements, students have to pass an entrance test with a good score, depending on their background. If you belong to a general category, you ought to score above 75-78, and if you come from a SC/ST/OBC background, you have to score more than 55/50/60 respectively. 

IGNOU BEd Entrance Exam 2026

The Bachelor of Education program in IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) is an entrance-based program. The IGNOU BEd Entrance exam will be conducted on 16 March 2026 and the application form will be released on 29 January 2026 and will remain open until 27 February 2026. IGNOU BEd Entrance Test Admit Card

BEd from IGNOU is a 2-year program (maximum 5 years) offering complete education studies, including pedagogy, human development, educational psychology, communication skills, etc. There are no eligibility criteria or maximum age limit for the program, but you need to complete your Bachelor’s with a minimum of 50% and clear an entrance exam to get into the BEd program.

The IGNOU BEd entrance exam is a 2-hour offline entrance exam that has 100 multiple-choice questions given in English or Hindi. IGNOU BEd Entrance Result

BEd admissions in IGNOU is a test-based process where students have to pass an entrance exam in order to get into this program. IGNOU BEd entrance result will be released in the last week of February 2026, along with the cutoff list of the Bachelor of Education admission. The cutoff in the entrance result is higher due to competition among the applicants and a limited number of seats available in a regional centre.

Thus, every applicant must know the application and exam dates and start the preparation in advance. Indira Gandhi National Open University will release the application forms for the same on 29 January 2026, which will remain open before the new year 2026, and the exam will be conducted on 27 February 2026.

IGNOU BEd Grade card

Indira Gandhi National Open University conducts IGNOU BEd Admissions once a year through entrance exams in which more than 20,000 applicants take the entrance exam to pursue the BEd program through a distance learning medium. The IGNOU BEd Grade card is released 30-45 days after the entrance exam on IGNOU’s official portal along with the results. IGNOU BEd Fees

IGNOU BEd is the most pursued course after Bachelor’s degrees by most of the students willing to enter the profession of education and teaching. The application window will remain open for more than a month, during which candidates can register for the entrance examination by paying a fee of ₹1000. Upon successfully passing the entrance test, students may then apply for the course.

The total fee for the IGNOU BEd is ₹55,000, which can be paid in instalments over the two-year duration of the course.
